Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the website located at curlcentric.com and any related services provided by Natural Hair Community LLC.

By accessing curlcentric.com, you agree to abide by these Terms of Service and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with these Terms of Service, you are prohibited from using or accessing this website or using any other services provided by Natural Hair Community LLC.

We, Natural Hair Community LLC, reserve the right to review and amend any of these Terms of Service at our sole discretion. Upon doing so, we will update this page. Any changes to these Terms of Service will take effect immediately from the date of publication.

Who we are

Curl Centric is an independent publisher covering curly, coily, kinky, and wavy hair. It is owned and operated by Natural Hair Community LLC. Nobody else owns a stake in it, and no brand has editorial control over what we publish.

Our own team writes and reviews our articles. Our editorial guidelines document how we research, source, and correct that work.

What Curl Centric is - and what it isn't

The content on this site is general educational information about hair and scalp care. It is not medical advice, and reading it does not create a doctor-patient, stylist-client, or professional relationship between you and us.

Hair and scalp problems can be symptoms of medical conditions. If you are dealing with sudden or patchy hair loss, a receding hairline, persistent scalp pain, bleeding, open sores, severe or spreading irritation, or an allergic reaction to a product, see a board-certified dermatologist or another qualified clinician. Do not delay getting care because of something you read here.

Products, ingredients, tools, and techniques described on this site carry their own risks - chemical relaxers, bleach, dyes, developers, heat tools, and tension styles especially. Always patch test, always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions, and stop if something hurts. You use this information at your own risk.

Results vary. Hair texture, porosity, density, health history, medication, and diet all change what a given routine will do. Nothing on this site promises a particular outcome.

Advertising, affiliate links, and sponsored content

Curl Centric is free to read because advertisers and affiliate programs pay for it. Here is exactly how that works.

• Display advertising. Mediavine serves the ads on this site. We do not choose or approve the individual ads that appear, and an ad appearing next to an article is not an endorsement of the advertiser. How advertising affects your data is covered in our Privacy Policy.
• Affiliate links. Some product links are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Automated access, scraping, and AI training

You may not use automated systems - crawlers, scrapers, bots, or extraction scripts - to copy this site in bulk, and you may not use any part of this site to train, fine-tune, ground, or otherwise develop a machine learning model or generative AI system without our prior written permission.

This is not a ban on all automated access. Search engine crawlers that respect our robots.txt are welcome, and so is normal accessibility tooling. We prohibit bulk extraction and model training.

Quoting us is fine. If you quote from an article, keep it short, attribute it to Curl Centric, and link to the page you took it from.

Intellectual property

The intellectual property in the materials contained in this website are owned by or licensed to Natural Hair Community LLC and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law. We grant our users permission to download one copy of the materials for personal, non-commercial transitory use.

This constitutes the grant of a license, not a transfer of title. This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions or the Terms of Service, and may be terminated by Natural Hair Community LLC at any time.

This includes our photography, illustrations, charts, calculators, and printables. Our printables may be downloaded and used for your own personal hair care, and by a stylist with their own clients. They may not be resold, redistributed, or uploaded to another site.

Your content

You retain your intellectual property ownership rights over content you submit to us for publication on our website. We will never claim ownership of your content, but we do require a license from you in order to use it.

When you use our website or its associated services to post, upload, share, or otherwise transmit content covered by intellectual property rights, you grant to us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to use, distribute, modify, run, copy, publicly display, translate, or otherwise create derivative works of your content in a manner that is consistent with your privacy preferences and our Privacy Policy.

The license you grant us can be terminated at any time by deleting your content. However, to the extent that we (or our partners) have used your content in connection with commercial or sponsored content, the license will continue until the relevant commercial or post has been discontinued by us.

Comments and community conduct

Comments are moderated. We publish disagreement, criticism of our work, and questions we cannot answer. We do not publish:

• personal attacks on other readers, our team, or anyone else;
• racist, sexist, or otherwise hateful content, including hair-based insults;
• spam, self-promotion, or undisclosed affiliate links;
• medical claims presented as fact without a source;
• anything that identifies a private individual without their consent.

We may edit, refuse to publish, or delete any comment for any reason, and we are under no obligation to explain why. Comments are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not of Curl Centric.

Copyright complaints

We respect copyright, and we expect the same. If you believe something on this site infringes a copyright you own or represent, email admin@curlcentric.com with the subject line "Copyright complaint" and include:

1. your physical or electronic signature;
2. identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
3. the URL of the material on our site you want removed, specific enough that we can find it;

6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

We remove material that is genuinely infringing. We will also tell you when we think a claim is wrong - a photo we licensed, or a short quotation with attribution, is not infringement.

Corrections

If you find a factual error on this site, tell us. Email admin@curlcentric.com with the subject line "Correction", or use the correction route on our contact page. Include the URL and what you believe is wrong.

We check it, and if you are right, we fix the article and note the change. Our editorial guidelines describe that process.

Links to other sites

Natural Hair Community LLC has not reviewed all of the sites linked to its website and is not responsible for the contents of any such linked site. The inclusion of any link does not imply endorsement, approval, or control by Natural Hair Community LLC of the site. Termination and severance

Right to terminate

We may suspend or terminate your right to use our website and terminate these Terms of Service immediately upon written notice to you for any breach of these Terms of Service.

Severance

Any term of these Terms of Service which is wholly or partially void or unenforceable is severed to the extent that it is void or unenforceable. The validity of the remainder of these Terms of Service is not affected.

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Alabama, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Jefferson County, Alabama.
